Have a question? I have the answers!
Is French Grey Photography a group of photographers?
No. I’m Brian the owner and sole photographer of French Grey Photography, and I’m based in Montreal. Every single photograph on French Grey Photography has been taken by me!
You can learn more about me and My Story here!
How many hours do I need for a shoot in Montreal?
The most popular package is a two hour photography session. A two hour session means you can cover some great spots and have more moments captured.
For pre-wedding shoots I normally recommend 3-4 hour packages so that you can cover more locations, and also have an outfit change.
I also offer a 30 minute weekday session.
How many locations can we cover during a Montreal photography shoot?
A rough rule of thumb is one location per hour, but sometimes we can do more if they’re nearby to each other. Of course there is no actual limit, and every shoot is different. My main goal is to focus on you, with Montreal as the gorgeous backdrop!
How do I make a booking and pay the retainer?
1. Fill in the Booking Form or contact me to check if I’m available on your date.
Once the date is confirmed we’ll discuss the details of your session.
2. Sign an online contract and pay the retainer to secure your photography shoot with me.
Voila! You have now booked French Grey Photography, and that I’ll be there on your day to capture your memories!
Do you offer Hair and Make-up services?
Yes, I can book and arrange these services for you with my professional Paris based colleagues. Most of my clients take advantage of this convenient service!
How do we get around during the shoot?
Normally we can take a short taxi or Uber ride if you want to change locations so that we don’t need to worry about parking.
I can also book and arrange a car and chauffeur service for longer shoots and pre-wedding sessions. If you would like an outfit change during the session you can book a van service which can also be use to change in.
Do you shoot digital or film?
When I studied photography I was using film cameras and developing all my black and white photographs in the darkroom with chemicals. This was a slow but fantastic way to learn how the camera, film and light all worked together to create the final print, as well as how to control all those aspects without using Photoshop! I still have my father’s 1970’s Pentax Spotmatic film camera that I occasionally use for purely personal nostalgic shots!
At the moment all of my photography is in digital and post processing is done by myself in Aperture on my iMac; but I will be introducing film photography in the future…
Do you travel for pre-wedding, engagement or honeymoon session?
Yes! I have travelled to many European destinations for couples who would love to have my photography style for all of their photography sessions. Some popular destinations I’ve been to are Positano, Almafi Coast, London, Rome and the South of France to name a few. Travel expenses are only calculated if the venue is outside of Paris.
Do you travel for weddings?
Defiantly! I love to travel and travel expenses are only calculated if the venue is outside of Montreal.
What equipment do you use? Do you have a back-up?
I shoot using the latest professional Canon cameras and fixed lenses. And yes, I always take a back up camera with me for weddings.
How long before the wedding should I book?
Last minute bookings are excepted, however, to avoid disappointment you should try to book at least 6 to 12 months in advance as there are only so many Saturdays in peak season!

How do you go about photographing our wedding as the photographer?
Your wedding day will be one of the most important cornerstones of your marriage!
It’s important for me to capture your day in a way that will last generations and remind you of those special moments. Therefore, it is vital that you feel comfortable with me, as your photographer. I would suggest that you try and book an engagement session with me prior to the wedding so that we can establish a comfortable working style and discover what kind of direction works best for you. You’ll then be more relaxed around me and the camera and that in turn will create better opportunities for fantastic photographs!
Do you use lighting equipment?
I love working with natural light and will predominately shoot with available light during your day. At night, or when the available light is limited, I will use flash and off-camera flash as needed.
I also sometimes switch to black and white photographer when using flash to create a timeless and classic feel.
Do you offer wedding and engagement books?
Yes! My wedding packages include options to add on the fine art wedding books
Do you only shoot weddings?
No! I also do elopement, engagement, pre-wedding, family and portrait shoots.
