It was an absolute pleasure to work with Abby and Josh for their elopement photoshoot in the heart of Montreal’s Old Port. Their love story is truly unique and inspiring, making our time together even more special.

Their Love Story

Abby and Josh’s journey together began in Cleveland, despite growing up 3.5 hours apart. They matched on an online dating app in June of 2019, and as Abby put it, “it was love at first swipe!”. They instantly felt a connection as though they had known each other for a lifetime, becoming inseparable soon after.

When they met, Abby was working as a nurse. They enjoyed a few months of normalcy before the COVID pandemic changed everything. To avoid the challenges of quarantining from each other, they decided to move in together just six months after they met. Abby’s intuition was spot-on; in her journal, she noted three months after meeting Josh that she was certain she would marry him! This beautiful sentiment was shared with Josh before they made their vows, creating a deeply personal and touching moment for them both.

Choosing Montreal and French Grey Photography

For their elopement, Abby and Josh chose Montreal, a city rich in history, culture, and charm. They did extensive research on local vendors, searching for someone who could truly capture their love story. They were instantly drawn to my work at French Grey Photography. It was incredibly flattering to hear that they were enamoured with my photography style and the way I capture intimate moments. As an out-of-country bride, Abby appreciated the importance of clear communication and constant reassurance, which I made sure to provide throughout the entire process, ensuring everything went smoothly. The result was a beautiful collection of memories that Abby and Josh will cherish forever.

The Photoshoot in Old Port Montreal

Unfortunately, we faced some bad weather on the original shoot date. Flexibility is key in such situations, and I was more than happy to accommodate changes to ensure we could capture their vision perfectly. When the day finally came, the weather cooperated, and we were able to capture the beauty of Old Port Montreal, with its cobbled streets, historic architecture, and scenic views. Abby’s dress was a stunning departure from tradition. Instead of a classic white gown, she wore a beautiful dress adorned with a butterfly print. This unique choice added a vibrant and whimsical touch to the photos, perfectly reflecting her and Josh’s personalities. From the moment we met, Abby and Josh were an absolute delight to work with. Their genuine connection and love for each other shone through in every shot. They were a bit anxious about the photoshoot, but my goal was to make them feel comfortable and relaxed. According to Abby, “Brian was an absolute pleasure to work with – he is extremely personable, which put our photoshoot anxiety at ease, and he was an absolute pro through the entire experience.”

Capturing the Moments

Our shoot took us through the charming cobbled streets, picturesque gardens, and historic buildings of Old Port. Each location added a unique element to their love story, and the resulting photos were nothing short of magical. One of the most special moments was witnessing Abby and Josh share quiet glances and laughter, effortlessly revealing the depth of their bond. The gentle, soft light filtering through the trees and buildings added a touch of intimacy and warmth, perfectly complementing their joyous expressions.

Reflecting on Their Experience

Looking back at the photos, Abby and Josh felt transported to that beautiful day in Montreal. “The beautiful memories Brian was able to capture of our elopement will never fail to bring us right back to that beautiful day in Montreal,” Abby shared. Their kind words and high recommendation of French Grey Photography mean the world to me.

Abby and Josh’s love story and their elopement photoshoot in Old Port Montreal are a testament to the power of love and the magic that can be captured through photography. It was an honour to be part of their journey and to provide them with lasting memories of their special day.
