The immense lavender fields of Provence is an amazing thing to witness, and given that they only flower for a few weeks makes it even more special! Annette and Shang dreamed of having their pre-wedding session in these lavender fields, and with careful planning I’m thrilled that we made this a reality!
We started very early so we could capture some of the haze that sits over the fields in the morning; and we could then also capture some moments when the sun comes out over the rolling hills! And yes, we found a tree in the shape of a heart. Seriously!
The wheat fields close by also offered some alternative scenes, as well as the nearby town with it’s narrow streets and beautiful flowers.
Annette said this about the experience:
“We have always loved travelling. In planning our pre-wedding, we wanted to incorporate the photoshoot as part of our holidays and there was no better place in the summer than at the beautiful ‘French Riviera’ or ‘Côte d’Azur’ in the south of France!
Amidst shopping, sightseeing and dining along the beautiful Mediterranean coastline at Nice, Cannes and Monaco – we reserved the best sights of the trip for our pre-wedding shoot with Brian at the Lavender Fields!
The Lavender Fields provided the best nature has to offer with the endless purple manicured fields. Our thinking behind this decision was largely to have a photoshoot close to nature, in line with the eventual wedding venue we had chosen.
Following the plan laid out by Brian, Annette started her make up with Ylva at 3AM in view of starting the shoot early and capturing the first rays of light at Sunrise. We met up with Brian and started on our journey to the lavender fields.
The first impressions of the lavender fields in the morning light were breathtaking. As we started our shoot, there was a light mist which sat over the horizon of the fields which provided a soft and dedicate feel to the moments captured. This was complimented by the mild rays of light coming in moments later, providing that bit of magic for the shoot.
We couldn’t have asked for better weather or a better team to do this – it was perfect.
Brian was absolutely fantastic! They were instructive without being overbearing – provided us just enough guidance to complete the shot, allowing our natural instincts to take over at times. We really had fun hanging out in the beautiful lavender fields – getting our shoes dirty with soil and all did not dampen our spirits as we hopped from one row of manicured lavender to another.
We followed on with a romantic shoot at the nearby town and an evening shoot in the historic city of Aix-en-Provence.
In all, we really enjoyed our trip to the South of France with the Lavender fields as the highlight of our trip. The food and company were excellent, with gorgeous views to beat. We’ll certainly look back fondly at the memories as we scroll through the photos and hope to be back someday soon!”
This season for the lavender fields is very limited, so please contact here me if you’d like to secure a booking for 2018!
